Rosanjin Kitaoji (1883-1959), ceramicist and restaurateur, and collector. After the 1923 Tokyo earthquake destroyed a large part of his ceramics collection, he started making pottery to replace it. He ran a Tokyo restaurant serving food on his collection of traditional ceramics. Rosanjin, his chosen pseudonym, means ‘foolish mountain man’.
